The Lost Symbol

The Lost Symbol is an upcoming thriller film based on the novel The Lost Symbol by author Dan Brown. It has been confirmed that Columbia Pictures^[2] will distribute the film, for release in 2012.^[3]
The novel's story is the third with character Robert Langdon. In the film, he will be summoned to Washington, D.C., where he will be decoding the symbols of the Freemasons. Tom Hanks is expected to reprise his role as Langdon. Steven Knight was asked to write the script,[4] though as of December 2010, Dan Brown replaced Steven Knight as writer of the film, making this the first time Brown has directly adapted a novel to a theatrical screenplay.
